Military working dogs like our men and women in the military are soldiers. They are put in harms way and can end up giving the ultimate sacrifice. They are true hero’s and put their lives at risk to save their fellow soldiers.
Sgt. Rocky and his handler Spc. Andrew Brown of the 89th Military Police Brigade were both injured by and IED in Afghanistan in December. They both received Purple Hearts, you can see Sgt. Rocky’s Purple Heart pinned to his collar below.
Rocky received over 4000 hours of surgery, medical care and physical therapy at the Dog Center Europe, according to Stars and Stripes, before he left Germany headed to the US to meet back up with his handler Andrew.
The video below shows the excitement in both Rocky and Andrew as they are reunited after being separated for 3 months, where they receive medical care and therapy.
We want to say thank you to Spc. Brown and Sgt. Rocky for your service and for being true heroes!
